Whatever the reason is, you need to create some degree of certainty that this is the right idea.
The most effective way to receive feedback on your idea is to explain the idea to friends or family.
At the beginning of the startup journey, you will find yourself explaining your idea to many people.
This is known as your Elevator Pitch
An elevator pitch is a 30 seconds explanation of your idea. The aim is to explain the problem you aim to solve and your startup solution.
Creating your elevator pitch will help you in several ways:
You are able to explain how you are able to better help your customers
You will gain immediate feedback based on the conversation or their reaction
This helps you spread the word that can potentially help you get the support required
Your journey starts with drafting the first version of your pitch.
Over and over again we see that the first step of your startup Journey is to test your idea with people you trust. At the same time we see that spending 20 minutes on creating our pitch is something that’s skipped.
This is how we helped other to make a difference.
Step 1: Take be below canvas and write down your product. What’s special about it and what the benefit
Step 2: Write down your target customer, what he wants to achieve and what’s difficult in doing this.
Step 3: Merge your notes into the “formula”. Play around with it for a view minutes to create a sentence that sticks.
StepĀ 4: Most important part: Tell your pitch to 5 persons you trust. Note down their questions. Promise to answer them in writing. This forces you to really listen and learn what’s unclear about your pitch. Secondly you will learn what their doubts is. Use the first type of feedback to improve your pitch. Capture the second type of questions to test with experts in the next step.
